Half a century with the Tesla & Damavand Companies.
Tesla-Iran company (established in 1970) and Damavand Lift Mfg. Company (established in 1990) are both leading companies in the elevator and escalator industry in Iran and the Middle East.
Tesla started working in Iran in the 1970s as the first producer of elevator spare parts in the field of elevator and escalator production.
Damavand Lift Mfg. Company was established in 1990. This company was established in Damavand city in line with the implementation of the strategic plan of the complex and in order to expand the range of products from parts and sets of elevators to complete elevators.
Tesla company was the supplier of big companies such as Schindler company, Otis company, Embarba company (Gilan elevator and escalator), Diba company and many companies.
Establishment of DUAST
From the beginning of the establishment of Tesla-Iran and Damavand Lift Mfg. companies, the problem of providing expert human resources was always the main concern of elevator industry managers. Before the revolution, most active elevator companies represented the parent companies in this industry. The main companies held limited in-factory training for their senior engineers, and they also used the teacher-apprentice training to train their technicians. It was compiled in 1986, but until 1999, when the first vocational college of the elevator industry was established and started working next to the Tesla Company of Iran, it did not have a structured form of education. In 2002, with the graduation of the first group of students of DUAST, the managers of the company expanded their idea and the educational standards of the associate level of installation and repair of elevators and escalators by the professors of the University of Science and Technology and Khajeh Nassir din Toosi and the experts of the elevator company Damavand was compiled. But due to the fact that independence in the training of company managers was one of the main principles, this matter was not implemented.
In 2003, based on the suggestion of one of the professors of the University of Applied Science and Technology, negotiations were held between the Ministry of Industries and Mines, Damavand Elevator Company and the University of Applied Sciences regarding the creation of this field in that university, and after receiving the initial approval of this standard, it was re-examined. It was compiled and approved. The first elevator university was established in 2005 and the first group of students were admitted to the applied scientific training center of Damavand elevator company in 2006. The undergraduate standard of this field was compiled and approved by this center in 2010. The standard of the master’s degree in this field was also compiled and approved by this center in 2014, and the only group of master’s students in the design and construction of elevator safety mechanism graduated in 2016.
Sustainable development of the DUAST
DUAST has always been in the elevator industry is known as a leader in various fields of education and research. And in this regard, DUAST has put quality at the top of its agenda.
